The Modern Flames Orion V2 Slim Series is a shallow-profile virtual electric fireplace engineered for standard 2x6 walls. At 6-5/16 inches deep, it brings the same next-generation LCD flame display, 24-flame library, built-in audio, and Modern Flames+ app as the rest of the Orion V2 line to installations where framing depth is limited.

It can finish flush as a built-in clean-face fireplace, slide in after drywall as a self-trimming unit, or hang on the wall, and it runs on standard 120V power with a plug included. Modern Flames rates the Orion V2 Slim for indoor and covered outdoor use.

Installation and Fit

The Orion V2 Slim offers three ways to finish. As a self-trimming unit, it slides into a finished opening after the drywall is up and uses its trim to cover the edge. For a flush clean-face look, the trim is replaced with the included drywall stops so the wall finishes right to the glass. It can also be wall mounted.

Rough-opening height is 19-1/8" for every size.
Rough-opening depth is 6-1/2" for a built-in clean face; self-trimming openings need a 6" minimum.
Rough-opening widths run from 50-3/4" for the 52" model to 99-1/2" for the 100" model.
Runs on 120V with the included plug, or can be hardwired.

Outdoor installation

Outdoors, the Orion V2 Slim is approved only as a built-in, and only where a patio roof shelters it from rain and direct sun. Size the cover from the fireplace itself: measure from the bottom of the unit up to the patio ceiling, and make sure the roof reaches out in front by at least half that distance, with the same minimum protection on each side. If the ceiling is 8 feet above the bottom of the fireplace, for example, plan on at least 4 feet of cover in front and at both sides. The base of the fireplace must also sit at least 2 inches above the patio floor. Wall-mounted outdoor installs, open decks, and slatted pergolas are not approved.
